Before starting the making process, you need to prepare the tools or equipment in the first place. You will need a wooden board, a washing sponge, and a sample size of paint. For the paint, we highly recommend you to go with the same color but in different shades. You will see how incredibly easy the steps are while the result is quite great.<\/p>\n

Prepare the board<\/strong><\/h2>\n

You will need to cut the board into 800mm x 800mm. Of course, you do not need to cut it on your own because the store will do it for you. We highly recommend choosing a wooden board with at least 10mm of thickness so it would be sturdy enough for the food.<\/p>\n

Add the paint<\/strong><\/h2>\n

You do not need to use special types of paint for DIY food photography backdrops. You can even go with matt wall paints because you can get the small tester pots for this project. We highly recommend you use at least three shades of the same color. Put a small amount of each shade in the middle of the wooden board next to each other. It is even better if each shade got a bit on top of each other.<\/p>\n

Coat the board with the paint<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In this stage, you can mix all colors by using the sponge we have prepared before. However, make sure you do not overmix the paint though. Make sure you dab all colors all over the wooden board. It does not have to be precise after all.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Once the surface is fully coated and covered with the mix of the wall paints, you can let it dry. We do not recommend using any sealant. Just let the wooden board get its wall paint finish.<\/p>\n

Once the board is fully dry, you can directly use it for the backdrop or background for your work. The time needed to let the surface dry may depend on the type and the amount of paint you have used.
